Recently, Parking Padding Solutions partnered with a valet company, AutoPark LLC, to create a padding solution for a 5-start hotel parking garage. The hotel, Waldorf Astoria Chicago, is recognized as one of the best hotels in the world and is located in the prestigious Gold Coast neighborhood.
CUSTOMER ISSUE
This large, indoor parking garage has 4 floors with many cement support columns. Most columns are between parking spots, making the spots very narrow. Additionally, some of the support columns are in in the driving lane. The challenge was to reduce vehicle accidental contact with the columns, while maintaining aesthetics and safety in the garage.
PADDING SOLUTION
After reviewing several garage protection products and evaluating the costs of each with a quoting process, the managing valet company decided on a combination approach. They selected both Custom Column Padding and Corner Sentry to cover the problem areas.
Forty-two Custom Column Pads were made-to-order for the cement columns between the narrow parking spots. Additionally, custom padding was added to the columns that were in the driving lane to increase visibility. Corner Sentry corners were installed to vulnerable corners that could cause damage.
All products were ordered in yellow vinyl with red reflective striping to maintain a streamlined look.
The solution was phased in over the course of a year, with products being ordered quarterly.

The padding solution for this parking garage is protecting vehicles from minor damage due to close contact with the cement support columns. A streamlined look has been maintained with the coordinating of the vinyl color and the garage looks great!
