We've definitely seen the impact of the COVID19 pandemic in the Parking Industry on our end at Parking Padding Solutions (PPS). As we wait for things to improve and as we slowly open back up, I am encouraged to see that some operators and owners are using this slow time to make safety improvements and smart investments in their garages/parking lots.
At PPS, we have been able to help several customers add padding to their spaces, thereby creating safer environments in their facilities. The goal of the padding in these cases is to help protect vehicles from minor damage due to close contact with the cement support columns. Additionally, the reduction of damage can then reduce the cost of any claims that may be brought to the parking facility.
In one example, PPS partnered with a California university to create a padding solution for a parking garage. The garage had 18 exposed cement structural support beams that were in close proximity to several parking spaces. The customer chose to wrap the cement bases with Custom Column Padding. They chose a bright yellow vinyl with silver reflective stripes to increase visibility and went with the standard ½” inner thickness padding for protection. They easily installed the pads by wrapping them around the cement and connecting with the 2” strip of Velcro. The new pads have added a dimension of safety to anyone who parks in the garage, and the garage looks great!

Even during the shut downs due to COVID19, several companies continue to make improvements to their garage spaces. These changing environments are providing a good time for parking owners and operators to invest in the assets they hold and create safer parking environments. I can only see that as a positive outcome of this pandemic.
