Measuring for that padding order?  Tips to get it right!

When thinking about ordering protective padding, the first thing you need to do is measure what needs padding.  Correct measurements will ensure that you are getting an accurate quote and a good fit!  Thankfully, this isn’t hard to do.

Columns and post tend to vary in size from top to bottom.  For the most accurate measurement, you should measure the column at 3 different places: the base, the middle, and the area for the desired height.  From these measurements, choose your best fit within 1/8".  For cornered columns, give the length of each side, in inches.  For round columns, give the circumference in inches.  The circumference of round columns should be measured using a soft tape measure and going all the way around the post.

For padding gate arms, you should measure the dimensions of the gate arm.  This will be the height, width and length you want covered.  For example: 1” wide x 4” high x 60” long. If the gate arm is round or octagon, provide the circumference of the arm plus the length.

Bollard padding only need 2 measurements, the circumference around the bollard and the height of the bollard.

Sometimes, getting measurements won’t be as easy.  In the case of odd shapes and sizes, it is helpful to provide photos or drawings.  Either way, don’t feel alone if you have questions.  Just contact us at info@garagepadding.com and we can help you determine how to measure and document the area you are trying to pad!
